My perfect companion for all-day activities – E-Modeco URB 2.0
A few years ago, I decided to give up regular bikes. 🙂
I still enjoy cycling, but I’ve completely lost the desire to challenge myself.
Since I started riding electric bikes, I’ve realized that the most important thing for me is travelling. Visiting interesting or beautiful places, getting from point A to B without time pressure. I haven’t used bike computers for a long time, and I’ve never used heart rate monitors, power meters, or training devices. I’m not a fan of the gym or spinning bikes. I’ve lived in West Yorkshire for seven years. It’s an area in England that’s quite challenging for cyclists. Lots of hills, peaks and mountains—it’s hard to relax while riding here. Workout all the time 🙂
I’ve been commuting to work solely by bike for 16 years. It’s my choice, and I don’t regret it. But sometimes, I’m tired or lack motivation, yet work is waiting. I was looking for a bike that would suit my needs: daily commuting to work, shopping, and exploring trips in my spare time.
Like most people, I spent some time looking for interesting offers online. I found the Romet E-Modeco URB 2.0. I wasn’t familiar with this brand, but the bike looked interesting, and the price was quite attractive. Two sizes and two colours, plus two battery capacities to choose from.
The bike arrived ready to ride—I didn’t even have to inflate the tires. Everything was set up.
It’s been four weeks since I bought it, and we haven’t been apart .
The URB is designed as a city bike, but its equipment allows for comfortable touring on longer trips. You sit in a fairly upright position, but you can change it by adjusting the height of the handlebars. The hand position on them took a short time to get used to—I had ridden on a straight, fairly wide ones for years, transferring me to the new setup went smoothly. It’s surprisingly comfortable.
There’s no doubt—this is not a bike for those who want sport challenges. It’s stable, glides comfortably over paved roads, the suspension fork and seat post absorb the bumps. The tires also help with this. April this year was surprisingly cold and wet. The full mudguards come in handy, and when it rains and greenways are muddy, I come home almost clean. The bike has quite effective lights powered by the battery from the assist system —I don’t have to remember to charge it separately. Along with the bike, I purchased an Atranvelo bag that attaches to the rear rack—I took the Top Bag, which has additional fold-out side pockets. I bought it because it’s easy to attach it to the rack. It holds quite a lot, so I’ve stopped driving to the stores—I prefer using the bike two or even three times a week to get some food. The assist has several modes. To ride efficiently and feel the boost, you don’t have to use the highest setting. But it’s always there just in case. 🙂
I have weekends off and Saturday morning is the time for a longer ride somewhere. Sometimes 30, 40, or even 50 miles. Canal paths, side roads, greenways. A stop for coffee, sometimes lunch. I’ve been asked about my urban bike a few times—it seems to draw curiosity.
Buying this bike was a very good idea—I wasn’t sure which one to get, because there are other options in the lineup—I spoke with the staff at Romet UK for about fifteen minutes (I don’t live far from them) so I went to see how my object of interest looked like. After our conversation, I knew my first choice was the right one!
